How to request deletion

Use the form at the bottom of this page, or email privacy@opencityrecord.org. Include the email address associated with your account, or enough detail for us to identify the information you are asking about.

We respond within the period required by the most restrictive applicable law — typically 45 days.

What we will delete

• Your account and profile details
• Your email address and subscription or digest preferences
• Saved searches, follows, and tracked topics
• Records connecting you to activity on our sites, including analytics identifiers, to the extent they identify you

What we cannot delete, and why

OpenCity publishes public government records — agendas, minutes, transcripts, and recordings of public meetings that local governments are required to make available. If your name appears in one of those records because you spoke at a public meeting or hold public office, that is a record of government proceedings, not personal information we collected about you, and deleting it would misrepresent the public record.

If a record contains an error, or contains information you believe was published in error by the government body itself, tell us using the form below and we will look into it. Corrections at the source are normally requested from the city clerk who published the record.

Connected social accounts

If you removed OpenCity's access from a connected platform such as Threads, Instagram, or Facebook, that platform has already revoked our access. To also delete anything we stored while connected, submit a request below.
